Strathearn Art Walk 2026
By Vanessa Corrigall | Exhibiting at Booth Red 1 | September 11–13, 2026
This September, I’ll be showing my underwater swimmer paintings at the Strathearn Art Walk in Edmonton — one of Edmonton’s most beloved free outdoor art festivals. The sign-up for the art market was at 9:00 sharp on April 13th. Artists who participated the year before get a special code for earlybird access. It didn’t surprise me that this year’s festival sold around 160+ vendor spots within just a couple of days of registration opening. There are roughly 370 spaces for artists total.
These artists — painters, printmakers, ceramicists, jewellers, photographers — are deciding that this event is worth showing up for. I’ve been one of them for over four years now.

What Is the Strathearn Art Walk?
The Strathearn Art Walk is a free, family-friendly art market and music festival held each September in Edmonton’s Strathearn neighbourhood. Set along the river valley with panoramic views of the city skyline, it brings together hundreds of local and regional artists, live musicians, food trucks, and thousands of visitors over a single weekend.
This year’s dates are:
Friday, September 12 — 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM - Beer Gardens
Saturday, September 13 — 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM - All spaces
Sunday, September 14 — 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM - All spaces
It’s free to attend, open to all ages, and one of the best reasons to be outside in Edmonton in the fall.
The Work I’m Bringing: Underwater Swimmer Paintings
My paintings are of underwater swimmers. Figures suspended beneath the surface, caught between motion and stillness, between breath and surrender. I paint in layered acrylics, building up transparent washes until the light does what light does in water: it bends, scatters, blurs edges, turns ordinary bodies into something abstract and luminous.
I’ve been a swimmer my whole life. For me, being underwater has always been meditative — a place where the noise drops away and all you have is the rhythm of your own movement and the shifting light above you. My paintings try to hold that feeling.
What I’ve noticed over many years at SAW is that people slow down when they visit my booth. It’s what stillness does in a crowd. If you’ve ever stood in a loud, busy place and found yourself pulled toward something quiet, you already understand what I’m painting.

Why This Festival Matters
The grey spots are tents that sold after 2 days of earlybird artists being able to purchase spots.
Art walks like SAW exist at the intersection of community and craft. They’re parks, neighbours, children running between tents, collectors discovering work that stops them cold, and artists who have been making things in relative isolation suddenly standing in front of thousands of people.
The Strathearn Art Walk started as a small neighbourhood gathering. The fact that all 160+ spots sold out within days of registration opening in 2025 tells you something about how much it’s grown.
There’s something genuinely different about standing in front of a painting. The scale is real. The texture is real. The person who made it is right there.
